Alvin Moten is the Founding Pastor of Faith Southwest Baptist Church, and the founder of its Non-Profit Houston Vital Signs, Inc. He is a product of Houston Independent School District, Texas Southern University and Union Theological Seminary, where he received his Bachelor of Theology Degree. He continued his studies at Inter – Denominational Theological Seminary and was a Fellow at Harvard Divinity School of Community Development. His acumen business skills are evident by his accomplishment of starting and building For-Profit and Non-Profit Corporations. These Corporations have focused on providing quality input and services to people as well as communities in need.

Some of the Awards and Recognitions that he has received are from; President’s, Governor’s, Texas Department Human Services, The Points of Light Foundation (President George H.W. Bush) and Exceptional Church Growth and Development Award (SBC). He was an invitee to the Presidential Summit on Community Development where he participated with four living Presidents and General Colin Powell. 

In addition to his Pastoral Duties he has served on the Board of the Campus Ministries at Texas Southern University, and on the staff of Southern Baptist Corporation (UBA) (as Director African – American Church Development). He has also served as a Board Member of; Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Southwest Houston Development Committee and Westbury Improvement Association. Moten has been a Community Liaison Advisor for Senator Ken Bentsen and served as a Spiritual Leader for the Houston Gamblers Professional Football Team.
